Barcelona’s Persistent Interest in 19-Year-Old Winger Remains Unfazed Despite Manchester City’s Obstacle

Savinho has been one of the protagonists of Girona’s excellent run in the first half of the La Liga season as they sit as joint leaders with Real Madrid.

The 19-year-old Brazilian, on loan at Girona from their sister club Troyes in France, has performed very well, despite his age and relative lack of experience at this level.

And his performances have not gone unnoticed with Barcelona taking a keen interest in the young winger, with sporting director Deco, in particular, emerging as a great admirer of the Brazilian’s talents.

However, it was recently reported that Manchester City, who are owned by the City Football Group, who also are the owners of Girona and Troyes, are discussing signing Savinho for themselves.

Barcelona remain interested despite City Group plans

However, according to a fresh report from Joaquim Piera of SPORT, Barcelona remain very much interested in signing Savinho in the summer of 2024, despite the plans being made by the City Football Group to move him to Manchester City.

Following the addition of Vitor Roque recently, Barça are understood to be looking for a wide player in the summer, a player who can provide threat and quality from both right and left sides, which Savinho can.

However, the plans from the City Football Group could be a major hurdle in signing the teenage prospect.

There has been no intention from the City Group to move Savinho away from Girona in the current transfer window. In fact, any offers that came from him from the Premier League and the Bundesliga have been rejected.

The intention of the City Football Group is that there will be a change in the ownership of the winger. That is to say, that his rights cease to belong to Troyes and pass to another of the members of the conglomerate, with the relevant monetary compensation for the transfer.

There is even a possibility that Savinho could formally join Manchester City, which means that his price is set to rise.

However, all decisions on the Brazilian’s future have been postponed until July, which is good news for Barça’s interests, because now they would not be able to make a move.
