Barcelona Contemplates Signing 19-Year-Old Striker Samuel Omorodion Valued at 6 Million Euros

During the winter transfer window, Barcelona decided to get rid of several players, such as Ansu Fati, Ez Abde, and Ousmane Dembele. Three forwards gone meant that the club had a lot less attacking power.

Barcelona only had Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Ferran Torres as first-team forwards a day before the deadline. Lamine Yamal was going to be a part of the senior class, but he wasn’t going to be a starter.

At this point, Barcelona chose to sign Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid for the rest of the season, with no option to make the deal permanent.

A report from Sport says that Barcelona was thinking about a move for 19-year-old Samuel Omorodion before Felix was signed.

It says that Omorodion, who is also known as Samu, was still at Granada when Barcelona tried to sign him. They were up against Atletico Madrid, who paid €6 million for his services, which the Catalans could not pay.

In the same summer, Diego Simeone’s team sent him on loan to Deportivo Alaves. He has scored four goals in 12 games this season.

But Barcelona already knows too much about Samu, especially after the game on Sunday night. With 20 seconds on the clock, the Spaniard scored Alaves’ first goal with a backheel flick that beat Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

He kept putting pressure on Jules Kounde throughout the game, and if he hadn’t been so bad at finishing, he would have scored three goals in the first half.

Even though Barcelona won 2-1, Xavi said nice things about the scorer afterward, saying that he was a great player for the other team.

How Barcelona’s strikers are doing

Robert Lewandowski is the club’s first-choice scorer right now, but at 35 years old, he needs a good backup player badly. His deputy, Ferran Torres, does a good job, but Barcelona knows that post needs someone stronger.

The Brazilian player Vitor Roque was signed in the summer, so the move should go through then. However, Barcelona will need to make room on their wage bill for him to come in.
