Barcelona Academy Graduate Sets Ambitious Goals for 2024: ‘I’m Aiming to Get More Playing Time’

Fermin Lopez has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise mixed campaign for Barcelona. The youngster has emerged as a crucial outlet in the creative midfield department for Xavi Hernandez, impressing onlookers with his feisty performances.

With Barcelona having to offload key attackers in the summer, coupled with the poor form of Raphinha and injuries to the likes of Pedri and Frenkie de Jong, Fermin’s presence has indeed been critical for the club.

In light of his success in the first team, Fermin Lopez was given a tribute in his hometown yesterday.

Hailing from the small town of El Campillo, in the Huelva Province, Fermin Lopez notably talked about his goals for the new year, while also mentioning the most difficult player he has played against so far.

“I want to play more minutes, take advantage of the opportunities the coach gives me, and win titles,” Lopez said (h/t FCB World) when asked about his New Year goals.

So far this season, Lopez has featured in 18 competitive matches for Barcelona. Although the youngster has been involved in just three goals, his creativity has been quite crucial for the Blaugrana.

Not to mention, the majority of the appearances have come in the form of substitute appearances. That is Lopez is hoping for more game-time in 2024.

Aurelien Tchouameni: Lopez’s toughest opponent

Apart from his goals for 2024, Lopez was also asked about the toughest opponent he has faced so far in his career.

The Spaniard didn’t hesitate to call out Real Madrid starlet Aurelien Tchouameni. “Tchouameni, he is very strong and it was difficult for me when I played against him,” he said.

Tchouameni had indeed played a key role in nullifying Fermin Lopez the last time Barcelona met Real Madrid. Lopez, though, will be seeking retribution when the two rivals meet each other once again in 2024.
