Neymar Goes Beyond the Pitch: Taking to the Field for a Purpose in His Own Charity Tournament

For his Neymar Junior Project Institute in Sao Paulo, the £198 million forward participated in five-a-side matches.

However, Brazil said last month that due to ruptured ankle ligaments sustained in a friendly match against Qatar, he would not be able to play in the entirety of America’s premier international competition.

This meant that he was not even present during the host country’s 3-1 victory over Peru in the final on Sunday.

Sо, despite his rumоured attempts tо rejоin Barcelоna, Neymar’s eventful summer cоntinues tо take unexpecteԀ turns.

However, Neymar’s father asserts that PSG was aware that his son would be assisting his institute until July 16.

However, Leonardo, the sporting director of PSG, stated that they were “not dates agreed with the club”.

“The reason [for his absence] is known and was scheduled one year ago, with the annual schedule of his institute, and we couldn’t change it,” Neymar Sr. stated to Fox Sports Brazil.

He’ll be back on the 15th. That’s all there is to it—no debate. Furthermore, PSG are involved in and aware of the institute’s activities.

“Everyone knows the dates of these events, which are organised annually by the Neymar Institute,” he continued. The dates for this year are set for July 10.

Opened five years ago, just a few blocks from his childhood home, Neymar called the centre “a giant door for us to give opportunities to the people here”.

The Institute provides extra support for sports and education for underprivileged kids.

Barcelona is one of their supporters through their Foundation.

Neymar has stated: “I like lending a hand to the lads and girls in my childhood neighbourhood.

“I am aware that there has been a long wait for this project.”
