Brazilian youngsters have been in demand throughout the year and as we head into 2024, that trend is unlikely to change.

One of the players in demand right now is Fluminense starlet Andre, a defensive midfielder who has caught the attention of many top clubs across Europe.

Barcelona are among the clubs keeping tabs on Andre, as they look to shore up their ranks in the middle of the park.

Andre on Manchester City radar

Barcelona, though, could face stiff competition in the bid to sign Andre. That is because clubs like Manchester City are in the market for the Fluminense starlet.

According to Adrian Sanchez (h/t Barça Universal), several intermediaries working on Andre’s departure from Fluminense have received interest from Manchester City.

The Premier League giants are no strangers when it comes to poaching talents from South America, having harvested talents such as Julian Alvarez in recent years.

Andre appears the next top target for Pep Guardiola, as he looks to shore up his options in the middle of the park.

Deco keen on Andre

As far as Barcelona are concerned, they, too, are serious about signing the Fluminense whizkid. The club’s sporting director Deco, in particular, is keen on the midfielder.

Andre is, in fact, one of Deco’s favourite in the pivot position. This is hardly surprising as the 22-year-old has impressed onlookers with his discipline and defensive prowess during his time at Fluminense.

Deco, for his part, tracks South American football very closely and had played a key role in helping Barcelona acquire talents like Vitor Roque and Raphinha.

However, whether or not Deco’s strong connection with Brazilian football enables Barcelona to pip Man City in the Andre pursuit, remains to be seen.
