Shaun Goater heaped praise on Manchester City speedster Jeremy Doku for his showing during his side’s 3-2 victory against RB Leipzig.

The pundit highlighted why Doku played such a key role in the hosts returning to winning ways at the Etihad Stadium on City’s official full-time show on their YouTube channel.

Paul Dickov also lauded the £55.5 million (Sky Sports) man’s showing off the bench, describing his impact as “sensational.”

The 21-year-old is having a cracking debut season for the Sky Blues, with Jermaine Beckford previously admitting that he would have relished playing alongside a livewire like him back in his playing days.

Recently, Rio Ferdinand said that the youngster is in better form than Bukayo Saka, adding that he would pay to watch him over any other winger in the Premier League.

After Manchester City executed a comeback for the ages against RB Leipzig, Shaun Goater raved about Jeremy Doku.

“What I like about Doku’s game, it’s so mixed up. I was never really a defender but he goes [down the] line, he goes inside and then he gets it another time and he goes, ‘No, I’m not going to take you on, I’m going to be patient.’ So, he’s just really a brilliant winger because he has the patience when he needs to and sometimes, he goes direct or a little change and the defender’s thinking, ‘Oh, he’s done me there!’ I just like how he switches up his game”, Goater said on City’s official full-time show.

He added, “Jack [Grealish] is a really quality player, he does some really good things for us because what he does is, he brings the opposition all the way across and gives an advantage on the other side, so when we move the ball quickly, it becomes a two v one etc. on the other side. But today, Doku, his directness to be able to go line or go inside, link-up, pass balls inside, brilliant.”

Shaun Goater was especially right in saying that the directness that Jeremy Doku provided was missing for Manchester City before he came off the bench against RB Leipzig.

Much like the rest of the team in the first-half, Jack Grealish was far from his best, in our view.

Despite RB Leipzig doubling up on Jeremy Doku, he left defenders for deаd time and again.

The liveliness Doku brought on the left flank was a headache for the visitors to handle as his introduction singlehandedly upped City’s dynamism going forward by several notches.

Eventually, the Belgian was heavily involved in the build-up to Julian Alvarez’s winner, as the RB Leipzig defence struggled to keep him quiet both out wide and also closer to the box.

The former Rennes wideman’s carefree approach and quick feet make him hard to contain for any backline, especially when he is brought on against tired legs as a substitute.
